Yoga is like music: the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.
— BKS Iyengar

Back in the early 90s when there were no yoga studios in my Southern town, I went to a class in a church basement. After a few classes, I had a moment. It was the first pain-free moment I had experienced in over a year.

It was not a cure. It only lasted a few minutes, but I realized if I could have one moment free of pain, I could have more.

I could have 15 minutes.

I could hour.

A day....

maybe, even more.

It gave me HOPE.

And when you're dealing with chronic pain, hope is a lifeline.

From that day forward, yoga has been an integral part of my physical, emotional and spiritual healing and something I want to share with others.

In 2012, I decided to take a huge leap of faith and sign up for a Yoga Teacher and Yoga Therapy Training with my local studio. I was more than a little scared and intimidated.

I always knew that I didn’t want to be a graphic designer forever and that one day I wanted to be a healer but among my many hesitations was my negative body image. Even at my “thinnest” my body type is not what most people would consider a “yoga body”. How could I sit in front of a class and not worry about my muffin top or whether people were judging my body that I judged so harshly myself?

But here’s the thing ya’ll — we ALL have a yoga body when our unique and beautiful body is practicing yoga. Any kind of yoga.

Flawed as we may imagine them to be, EVERY BODY is made for yoga.

Yoga creates space.

When we create space there is opportunity.

Opportunity to observe and to listen.

To release what no longer serves.

To invite that which we want to experience more.

Yoga is meant for all bodies and body types and a home practice can be a great way to get past any fears or hesitations around studio classes (plus your mat is open 24/7!). Developing a personal yoga practice can help with pain management, lower stress, promote better sleep, and help us cope with our emotions in a positive manner, along with many other physical, mental and spiritual benefits. The ability to regulate one’s body and find balance in emotion, thought and physical health is at the core of healing and well-being. A regular yoga practice can support us immensely in living with greater purpose, health and joy! More than one session will usually be required for optimal learning and results.

50 minute private yoga session designed to address your personal goals, injury or chronic pain/conditions. In addition to yoga asana (poses and movement), a session can include working the breath (prana), meditation and option to include work with Yoga Tune Balls®. After each session, you will receive a pdf with photos and an explanation of the recommended practice to keep for your reference.

I have led classes and workshops on Removing and Reducing Toxins, Managing Cravings, Mindful Eating, Yoga for Chronic Pain, Yoga for Curves, Yoga for First Responders, well as EFT and Tapping. I would love to create something just for you. Let’s talk about how to create a package designed specifically for you or your group and make it happen.

Yoga and wellness in the workplace is more than just a trend. A healthy and happy workforce is a productive workforce and offering wellness programs that incorporate yoga and mindfulness can improve your company’s bottom line because lowering stress translates into less employee absences, lower healthcare costs and higher morale. Sitting at a desk for hours at a time, standing all day or repetitive motion can all lead to misalignment, pain and illness over time. I can create a yoga and mindfulness class or series of classes and handouts targeted towards the specific physical, mental and emotional challenges of your workplace to achieve maximum results in the time and space available.
